本網頁系統主要由中央研究院永續科學中心與科技部資助的研究計劃下所建立，中央研究院地球所負責與中央氣象局協助執行，目的在建置台灣地區的即時地震科學資訊系統，以氣象局的地震速報資訊為基礎整合學界的即時科學成果，提供討論地震物理及地質特性的第一手資料，並期待可作為防震減災應變的科學依據。內容涵括氣象局的地震速報結果，包括發震時間、震源位置與規模，以及各地震度等。這個速報結果將自動觸發學界發展之震源反演的計算，在幾分鐘內即可提供數個運用不同資料、方法與地球震波速度模型的震源解。另外也利用目前普遍安裝在台灣地區的低價位Palert強震儀所記錄的即時觀測震度資訊來計算得到台灣地區震度分佈圖等。包括地質圖、活動斷層、震間變形和地震測站等的套疊圖層，對發震構造的辨識、餘震的評估，以及判斷其他可能觸發之地質災害等將扮演重要角色。

Taiwan is a highly seismic country having a long history of destructive earthquakes. With the fast plate convergence between Philippine Sea Plate and Eurasian Plate, frequent earthquakes strike this island with an average rate of several hundreds felt events every year. With the advance of science and technology, the real-time earthquake information can be analyzed and delivered rapidly to the public through internet. In order to provide the comprehensive knowledge and situational awareness for the major earthquakes in Taiwan / across the globe, the Committee on Education and Outreach of Taiwan Earthquake Research Center (TEC-CEO) was established in 2014. This committee is composed of several seismologists and structural geologists from different Universities and Research Institutes in Taiwan. Our main mission is to (1) collect and prepare the near-real time earthquake information (i.e., focal mechanism, intensity map, surface deformation, and damage pictures) (2) review of the tectonic background, historical events in the epicentral area. In several hours of a major event, such earthquake report is prepared and discussed intensively in the committee. In general, it will be published on the website of TEC and social media within 24 hours after the mainshock, which may act as a reference for news media and public earthquake communication. With rapid publication and archive of earthquake reports, TEC-CEO aims at delivering the correct and precise knowledge for public awareness and preparedness of the earthquake.

台灣地震學園，是一個地震科學、防災教育和志工運算的資源平台。我們想要將"地震志工"的概念，經由這個教學資源，推廣到國小、中、大學、到社區大學。在這個融合地震故事和遊戲的教學資源平台，一系列課程，由地震海嘯故事、到地震防護，目的在:

  1. 培養地震科學的正確知識: 從地震海嘯故事中學習為什麼災害會發生、而我們學到了甚麼?
  2. 培養地震科學的技能: 從地震遊戲中學到地震波怎麼解讀、而我們可以怎麼玩地震資料？

Earthquake Knowledge

「震識」是由中央大學馬國鳳教授與科普作家潘昌志(阿樹)共同成立的地震知識部落格，我們希望透過淺顯易懂的分享方式，讓地震知識走入日常生活中。取名「震識」除了有推廣地震知識的用意，也期許大眾能正視地震的威脅，做足防災的準備。

本站不但有科普知識，也將會提供充滿人文氣息的「地震故事」，我們期待讓更有溫度的文字、更具情感的筆觸分享關於地震的故事與歷史。讓我們從鑑古知今來防範未然，對於地震更能知其然也知其所以然。
